Sports Facilities
We benefit from being surrounded by 75 acres of playing fields with two all-weather artificial Hockey pitches [one sand-based and one water-based], 5 Rugby pitches, 2 Cricket fields, 8 floodlit hard Tennis courts combined with 6 Netball courts. Our Sports Pavilion affords magnificent views across the entire site from the first floor balcony and encompasses multiple changing rooms, kitchen/catering facilities and a large function area. The Sports Centre houses a large 6 court Sports Hall, enabling multi-use for Badminton, Basketball, Volleyball and Netball. 3 Indoor Cricket net lanes and Table Tennis are also available in the main hall. An outstandingly well-equipped Fitness Suite, a separate performance area and Dance Studio and a 25 metre, 6 lane, heated swimming pool complete the sports facilities.
We are particularly proud of our links with the local community and we were accepted as a Team Training Base for both the 2012 London Olympics and the Rugby World Cup 2015. The Canadian national side based themselves at our site for the duration of the 2015 World Cup, allowing all of our pupils the opportunity to observe and learn from world-class international performers. The school hosted a warm-up match between India and West Indies in June 2017 as a precursor to the 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup. Our facilities have also served as a training base for the South African Springbok and New Zealand Maori Rugby sides, England U19 Cricket, England U18 Rugby and we annually host a wide range of county Netball, Hockey, Rugby, Table Tennis and Tennis finals.
