Celebrating European Day of Languages
Leicester Grammar School Trust marked the European Day of Languages in style, as pupils took part in an array of cultural and linguistic activities designed to celebrate the diversity of languages spoken within the school community and beyond.
The day’s highlights included the much-anticipated traditional Bake Off, where students showcased their culinary talents while raising over £150 for charity. Pupils, staff, and judges were treated to a variety of delicious bakes inspired by different European countries, making it a feast for both the taste buds and a great cause.
Another favourite was the Masked Linguist challenge, which saw pupils guessing which staff members spoke additional languages. The event created a buzz around the school and revealed some surprising multilingual talents among the teaching staff.
Adding to the excitement was a European logo treasure hunt, which had pupils exploring the school grounds to find hidden emblems representing different nations. Spot prizes were also awarded throughout the day for students who correctly answered questions in a foreign language, promoting active engagement and fun learning.
The European Day of Languages not only celebrated linguistic diversity but also fostered a sense of community and appreciation for the rich cultural tapestry within the school.
