Excellent GCSE results again
We are delighted with another outstanding set of GCSE grades at Leicester Grammar School. Huge congratulations should go to the pupils of last year's Year 11 and their teachers after 77% of all grades attained A* and A grades and 93% were graded A*-B. Three candidates achieved straight 9s, which is spectacular in its own right, with a further seventeen narrowly missing the full house of top grades. Candidates achieved first class results across the curriculum and as a result they are very well placed to go on and study at A level. With a further sixteen high-achieving candidates joining LGS for the Sixth Form from other schools, the prospects look very bright for this cohort as they look forward to the next two years in the sixth form.
Headmaster Chris King commented: "As with all schools, pupils and parents, there has been a degree of trepidation in anticipation at the impact of the new numerical GCSE grading system. What these results show is that talented and hard-working candidates, taught by committed and expert subject-specialists, can do as well as any candidates have historically. I'm hugely proud of these pupils and their achievements, as I am of the staff who have helped them attain such impressive grades."
